I travelled to Vanuatu, a small island nation in the Pacific Ocean, which had been severely affected by a tropical cyclone just a few short months before my visit. I took photos to help an eco resort promote itself and its tours on social media.
In and around the resort
From my beautiful beachfront bungalow, to the colourful workers’ accommodation. And food!
Beach walk near the eco resort
The beach leading off the front of the resort was a couple of kilometres long – and usually the only other people I’d see were the locals out fishing and hunting for octopus. So beautiful – a true Pacific paradise.
Snorkelling in the coral reef
There were so many underwater delights to enjoy snorkelling at the resort. I wasn’t brave enough to venture out beyond the rip – but there’s no need when there’s so much to explore right off the beach.
Epule River
If you can tear yourself away from the beach, the river walk is stunning too!
Blue Lagoon tour
One of the most popular swimming holes on Efate island is well worth a visit. The beautifully blue water is surrounded by a tropically landscaped garden, with loungers plus tables for picnics. A perfect spot to relax – and jump off the rope into the water!
Pele Island tour
Keen to explore some of the smaller islands, we chartered a small boat from Emua Wharf and visited both Pele Island and Nguna. If you love gin-clear water, this is a must!
Saama snorkelling tour (Top Rock)
I highly recommend a trip to Top Rock for snorkelling the coral reef, it’s a beautiful place and there’s so much to explore. Make sure you go at high tide – otherwise you’ll scrape your belly on the coral!
I hope these photos inspire you to visit Vanuatu – it is truly beautiful, a real Pacific paradise.
Best of all, it’s easy to enjoy an authentic island experience, relax in nature, and learn about the local culture. Especially if you choose to stay somewhere that’s off the beaten track, like I did.
And if you’d like photos and words to promote your beautiful place in the world, let’s talk.
